The Fresh and Onlys are playing at Firebird on Friday, Nov 2 and tickets are only $10! Doors open at 7:30, anyone want to meet in the hotel lobby and head over together?
UPDATE: Let's plan to meet in the lobby @ 7:00pm, after the opening reception! Transportation options include bus (about 30 minutes, $2 each way) or cab (10 minutes, probably about $4/person) - we can take a vote. :)
Tickets are available through the website. The box office will be open 12-5pm and 6:30pm on if anyone wants to purchase tickets that day: (314) 535-0353
There are plenty of food options around if folks are hungry beforehand. I'll be scoping the area for food ideas earlier in the day, because I like to eat.
Comment by Tom Spicer on October 7, 2012 at 10:02am Boy, would I!? So lucky they are there that night! The new one is supposed to be great!
Comment by Kath Ann Hendricks on October 23, 2012 at 2:24pm I'd like to go, I think. What time do we need to meet? I have to admit I don't know the band, but I'd love to get out and about. Also, do you need to get the tickets in advance?
Yay, I'm glad other people are interested! :) I bought ticket in advance, but they do sell tickets at their on-site box office: hours on Friday are 12pm-5pm and 1 hour before the doors open. The doors will open at 7:30 and the show starts at 8:00 -- there are opening acts so it probably won't fill up right away.
I think what time we need to meet will depend on how we decide to travel (walk, public trans, cab?) and whether we want to catch the opening acts or not. A cab would probably take 10 minutes, walking 30-40. I'm not familiar with downtown St. Louis, so I'm leaning towards cab. It looks like there are places to eat around the hotel and in between the two placesd if people are interested in eating first.
Here's a link to some videos on the Fresh and Onlys blog: http://thefreshandonlys.blogspot.com/p/see-hear.html
"Waterfall" is probably my favorite song of theirs, but I think their new album is pretty good, too. I've never seen them live, but the venue seems to be a good one.
Comment by Alicia LaFrance on November 1, 2012 at 3:42pm I would love to go! I haven't heard of the band but I liked what I heard on their website. I will be in the lobby ready to go at 7pm! I'll be the orange person with the black background. (I can't get a photo to upload.)
Great, see you there tomorrow at 7! I'll keep an eye out for orange people. ;)
Comment by Alicia LaFrance on November 2, 2012 at 3:55pm Haha! I'm in a black shirt and blue pants. See you soon
