Totally agree about Portland! Austin, TX also has nice weather in November and good public transportation!

Powells bookstore in Portland Oregon is like book heaven. Oregon is the one place I've been where they automatically pump the gas for you so you never need to leave the car when filling up the tank, they also have the nicest drivers on the highways I've ever seen, and there are a lot of beautiful waterfalls fairly close by. I was just there for the Sirens Conference and had a great time!
